Cheating and Tournament Referee
Cheating will not be tolerated in the Starcraft: Brood War Tournament. Cheating is punishable by immediate disqualification of the player from the Starcraft: Brood War Tournament. Cheating includes, but is not limited to:

Starcraft: Brood War Tournament Referee and staff will execute all events and operations. Brood War Tournament Referee will be named "TourReferee" and no other names and will be Match Observers.

Rules of Play for Starcraft: Brood War Tournament

  1. Both Players must show up on Battle.net 15 minutes prior to appointed match time. The Starcraft: Brood War Tournament Referee observing the match will give each player a 10-minute grace period after the appointed match time. If a player is not present at the time end of this grace period, a forfeit will be awarded to the opposing player.
  2. If neither player is present, the match will be counted as a double forfeit. Again, it is the responsibility of the player to ensure that their connection and software function correctly prior to any match.
  3. In the event of an internal problem with Battle.net, all affected matches will be rescheduled.
  4. Players should not join, start or enter a game until a Starcraft: Brood War Tournament Referee instructs them to do so.
  5. The decision of the Starcraft: Brood War Tournament Referee is final regarding any disputes or decisions. If one player was clearly winning, but was disconnected at the last minute, the Referee has the authority to award that player the win. Similarly, a player abusing the regulated draw time rule will be forced to take a loss.
  6. Regulated draw time surrenders due to technical difficulty or a call by the Referee will result in a restart of the match on the same map. Build order mistakes will not be counted as draws, nor will attempts to force draws on early rushers or failed rush attempts. The game will continue. This is reserved for technical difficulties only.
  7. Both players must play with map settings on Starcraft: Brood War Tournament maps. The Starcraft: Brood War Tournament Referee will not interact with the gameplay in any way except periodically save the game.
  8. Only Starcraft: Brood War Tournament Referee may pause the game. Any player needing a time-out in the middle of a game must inform the Starcraft: Brood War Tournament Referee within the game.
  9. In general, disconnects are counted as losses, even in the event of a close game. As stated previously, the Starcraft: Brood War Tournament Referee has the authority to force a restart from a saved position or the start of the match if he deems it necessary. Similarly, the Referee may award a win to the disconnected player in certain circumstances. These include, but are not limited to, scenarios such as these:

  10. All players should test their connections to the Internet and Battle.net before their appointed match time. Any player unsure about their connection quality may request the Referee to join a five-minute mock match for both players to test their connections.
  11. The players can only choose allowed maps. The first player which comes in channel will choose the map for the first game and the second player will choose the map for the second game. The Starcraft: Brood War Tournament Referee will randomly select the map for the third game following these guidelines:

    1. Each player will be allowed to name one "disallowed" map.
    2. The remainder of the maps not specifically disallowed by the players will be placed into a random draw to be executed by the Starcraft: Brood War Tournament Referee.
    3. The game will then take place on whichever map prevails.
    4. If both players opt for every apporved map to be included in the random draw, then there will be no maps thrown out.
    5. Default game speed is "fastest" and all games will be played at that speed.
    6. There will be no more than four (4) games scheduled per day.

Determining the Winner of a Match

  1. Disconnects after the regulated "Draw" time will be counted as losses. Players are responsible for ensuring that their connections to the Internet are stable before play begins.
  2. Games ending in draws due to one player surrendering before the regulated "draw" time will be counted as draws.
  3. If for any reason, both players agree that a game should not continue (players being disconnected repeatedly or the connection between the two players is too slow), both players may choose to call the game a draw. This may be done only if both players deem it necessary and the Starcraft: Brood War Tournament Referee agrees.
  4. The Starcraft: Brood War Tournament Referee will periodically save the game, so that in the event of a double disconnect (both players disconnect) the game will be resumed at the last saved position.

Observation of matches during the Starcraft: Brood War Tournament

There will be one Starcraft: Brood War Tournament Referee inside all games. This view will be displayed live during all Starcraft: Brood War Tournament match play. These games will be periodically saved and may only be paused by the referee.

Forfeits

Starcraft: Brood War Tournament finalists will forfeit their match if they do not show up "ready to play" in the designated channel by 10 minutes after their scheduled match time.

"Ready to play" means that the player should have a machine that is capable of player Starcraft over Battle.net. Players are encouraged to take care of any and all hardware and software related issues prior to their scheduled matches.

Players are responsible for getting to a computer, logging on to the Battle.net and entering the proper Starcraft: Brood War Tournament channel which will be ordered by Referee.
